An alumnus of the premier business school of Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC), where he did his MBA with specialization in Marketing & MIS, and a mechanical engineer from the Delhi College of Engineering, Bala J Raman has more than two decades of experience in the high-tech industry.

He became an entrepreneur in 1992, and is now an investor and on the Board of four companies in the IT and IT Enabled Services space. Bala is also a part of the advisory board for a US based Fortune 1000 company’s India operations.

With the vision of starting a company that would provide both technology and business support services, Bala co-founded Congruent Solutions in 1999. He is currently the President and a member of the Board of the company. He established the company’s US subsidiary, Congruent Solutions Inc., in California, and now oversees the entire global operations of the company.

Subsequently, he has been evangelizing the benefits of leveraging the Global Delivery Model in technology services business. He was based in the Silicon Valley for a few years and was instrumental in helping companies like Chips & Technologies, MIPS Computers and Mylex take their first offshore development initiative. He was part of the core team that set up the offshore development center for Covansys. Bala has an astute understanding of the challenges in managing the Global Delivery Model and educates prospective outsourcers on both the benefits as well as pitfalls of the offshore model.
